About me
Heather earned her Bachelors from Virginia Wesleyan College and her Masters from Regent University. She taught as a classroom teacher in Norfolk and Chesapeake on the elementary level. She is currently a 5th grade teacher in Chesapeake Public Schools. Heather spent many of her summers as a Reading Specialist/Site Director with Horizons of Hampton Roads. She is a past president of Virginia State Literacy Association (Chesapeake Chapter), a past committee co-chair (Teacher of the Year) for Virginia State Literacy Association, and Leaders Inspiring Readers Award. Heather owned her own educational based literacy blog and guest blogs on Comprehension Connection and Adventures in Literacy Land. She has presented at local conferences and presented Professional Development all over Virginia. Heather was awarded the title of Virginia State Reading Teacher of the Year in 2017. She lives in Chesapeake with her husband Tom.
